Relief!

So yesterday afternoon, I got some saliva or something on my hurting tooth and the pain ratcheted up even more. So I called a random endodontist from my insurance list. They couldn’t see me until Sept 23. So I went home and cried when I tried to eat dinner because it hurt so bad. I ended up taking 3 Advil and laying on the couch all evening, just being miserable.

This morning I called the office of the first endodontist I had visited earlier this year who told me it was a sinus infection. They told me they were able to get me in on Friday so I said yes. And then about 11:00 they called again and said they had a cancellation and now had today at 1:15 open. I took it!

It was a different doctor that works in the same office and he didn’t even really bother to test the tooth out after talking to me. He tested the ones next to it to make sure. And then he numbed my mouth and did the root canal. It’s possible that I’m still a little bit numb, but I feel so much better. Yes, there is definitely some soreness around the tooth, but the throbbing, awful pain is gone. He said I definitely needed the root canal and apologized that the other doctor had been so conservative in his consultation. I’m over that. I just really wanted the pain to be gone and for my mouth to heal.

So now I have a crown that will need replacing, but otherwise I’m hoping this is the end of it.

I’ve decided to take the evening for myself and have some relaxing downtime. I had comfort food for dinner.  I’ll read some of my favorite books and eat some ice cream a little later. I’m going to work from home tomorrow just in case I hurt, but also because it’s supposed to rain and I want to enjoy it.
